Momenteel gaan Engelstalige e-mails rond, waarin geschreven wordt dat de verzender is overvallen en dringend financiële hulp nodig heeft. Het bericht wordt verstuurd vanuit gehackte e-mailadressen, waardoor lijkt dat het van een bekende afkomstig is.
Onderstaande e-mail werd onlangs vanuit een gehackt Hotmail-account verstuurd, waarbij in slecht Engelse om financiële hulp wordt gevraagd. Zowel Microsoft als Google adviseren in het geval van een misbruikt account om het bestaande wachtwoord te wijzigen en de computer op malware te scannen.

How are you doing, my family and I came over here to Spain for a short vacation. unfortunately we were mugged at the park of the hotel where we stayed, all cash and credit card were stolen off us but luckily for us we still have our passports with us.
